Deploying Applications

Top  Previous  Next

Best practise is to always work at a group level and not an individual level.  The system will let you do both but the administration task will be much easier if everything is done with groups. Users inherit virtually all of their settings from the group hierarchy so, when you change the setting at an individual or sub group level, you will break this inheritance for this setting.  This means if you later change this setting at a higher group level, the modified user or group will not inherit the change which can be confusing.

To deploy application packages to users:

1.Expand the navigation tree to display the User and Groups node.
2.Expand User and Groups to display the group that you want to deploy the application to.  If you want to deploy to an individual user, select the Group in the navigation pane, the action pane will display the people in the group.
3.Right mouse click the group or person and choose Properties from the pop-up menu
4.If you are deploying at a person level, you will need to check the Show Advanced check box on the General Page to display the Applications tab.
5.Click the Applications tab.
6.Click the Add button next to the Deployed packages window.
7.Choose the application package(s) from the list and click Apply.  To select multiple application packages, press and hold the Ctrl key.
NOTE: you cannot deploy more than one version of the same application package.
8.The application package will be deployed to the user or members of the group on their next device management session.

To Uninstall a previously deployed application

2.Expand User and Groups to display the group that you want to deploy the application to.  If you want to deploy to an individual user, select the group in the navigation pane, the action pane will display the people in the group.
3.Right mouse click the group or person and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
4.If you are deploying at a person level, you will have to check the Show Advanced check box on the General Page to display the Applications tab.
